Challenges to Judicial Independence CLE
Judge Paul Grimm will open our session with a discussion of our current judicial environment and how we got here. Our second hour will be a panel discussion moderated by Judy Perry Martinez of Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn, LLP. Her panelists will include Judge Grimm along with EDLA District Judges - Chief Judge Wendy Vitter, Judge Susie Morgan, and Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.

This two-hour CLE program will address aspects of appellate practice at the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Clerk and Circuit Judges Explain the Court's Procedures and Preferences.
From Behind Bars to Taking the Bar: A Jailhouse Lawyer’s Journey…
Calvin Duncan is the founder and director of the Light of Justice program, which is focused on improving legal access for incarcerated individuals. He will recount his journey from being a defendant to graduating from law school and the role played by jailhouse attorneys.

Morning at the Federal Courthouse
Join the Younger Lawyers Division as they host Morning at the Federal Courthouse on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Morning at the Federal Courthouse gives young lawyers, law students, and summer associates an opportunity to observe and learn about federal practice. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the program will begin at 8:30 a.m. in U.S. District Court. During this program participants will choose their schedule from court proceedings and panel discussions presented by federal practitioners and judges. A full agenda will be given at check-in.

Summer Clerkship Success Panel and Q&A
The New Orleans Chapter's Younger Lawyers Division will host a virtual Summer Associate/Clerk Tips and Tricks Session on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. CT via Zoom for law students. Young lawyers will discuss tips and tricks to help you prepare for your 2025 summer jobs and clerkships.

Evening with the FBA event of 2025
Join the FBA for our first Evening with the FBA event of 2025 which is a wine tasting at Swirl Sensational Wine Bar and Market.
Join us at this fun, funky neighborhood wine spot where we will learn about "all things wine." The team at Swirl will select several wines for us to try. There will also be plenty of time to visit with fellow FBA members as we discuss what we learned and our favorite selections.
Our tasting is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 3143 Ponce de Leon, New Orleans. Appetizers will be provided by 1,000 Figs Restaurant.
Tickets are $30.00 each for FBA members, future FBA members, and guests. To assist Swirl in setting up for our event, advance registration is required.
